Overview

Position Description

CGI is helping organisations design digital services that are clear, inclusive, and built around real user needs. As a Content Designer within our HCD team, you will play a key role in transforming complex services into intuitive, meaningful user journeys that deliver measurable impact. Working at the intersection of strategy, design, and delivery, you will influence how content shapes experiences at scale. At CGI, you are trusted to own outcomes, encouraged to bring creativity to problem-solving, and supported by a collaborative environment where your expertise helps create lasting value for clients, users, and communities.

CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and has been named a UK ‘Best Employer’ by the Financial Times. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching) which makes you a CGI Partner not just an employee.

We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector, including our Armed Forces, and are proud to hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. Join us and you’ll be part of an open, friendly community of experts. We’ll train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.

Your future duties and responsibilities

In this role, you will lead the design of clear, accessible, and evidence-based content that enables users to navigate complex services with confidence. You will shape content strategies, governance, and standards, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure content supports both user needs and business objectives. By influencing design decisions and engaging senior stakeholders, you will help embed best practice and sustainable content approaches.

You will also contribute to building content design capability across CGI by mentoring others, championing inclusive design, and sharing knowledge within the SPARCK community. Supported by a collaborative culture, you will have the freedom to experiment, refine ideas, and drive meaningful change.

Key responsibilities

* Lead & Innovate: Shape content strategy, governance, and tone of voice
* Develop & Deliver: Create clear, engaging, and accessible content
* Optimise & Improve: Use research, data, and information architecture to simplify journeys
* Collaborate & Influence: Work with designers, researchers, and stakeholders end to end
* Guide & Support: Mentor junior designers and build team capability
* Champion & Advocate: Promote inclusive, human-centred design practices

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

You will bring strong experience in content design and strategy, with the confidence to lead, collaborate, and influence across complex environments. You are passionate about inclusive design and continuous improvement, using evidence to inform decisions and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Essential qualifications and experience

* Extensive experience in content design, strategy, and governance
* Proven ability to design accessible content
* Strong use of research, data, and prototyping to inform content decisions
* Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and influencing skills
* Experience mentoring and supporting junior designers
* Proficiency with tools such as Figma and content management systems

Desirable experience

* Knowledge of GDS or NHS content and style guidelines
* Consulting experience or work across public and private sectors
* Familiarity with Agile delivery environments
* Understanding of SEO best practice
