Permanent (Part‑time 0.6 FTE). Salary £38,784 – £43,482 per annum (pro rata). Hours 22.5 per week. Closing Date 17 February 2026.
Overview
Buckinghamshire New University is an ambitious, modern university that values transformative education and community. We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Lecturer to join our expanding occupational therapy team within the College of Health and Society. The role involves delivering the Occupational Therapy programmes (BSc and apprenticeship route), collaborating with practice partners, supporting the Associate Professor and designing innovative teaching that supports learning and student attainment.
Responsibilities
* Design and deliver high‑quality, innovative and challenging learning experiences using current theory and practice.
* Lead and undertake module leadership, curriculum development, personal tutoring, assessment and review.
* Support students in supervising placements, learning in practice, internships and work‑related activities.
* Provide pastoral care and project supervision of students.
* Engage with professional networks to promote teaching, learning and research.
* Plan and deliver the curriculum using appropriate media, including IT.
* Deliver effective feedback and guidance to students to promote improvement.
Research & Knowledge Exchange
* Conduct research and scholarly activity aligned with teaching and learning.
* Engage with business and professional networks to promote research.
* Contribute to knowledge through refereed conference outputs and peer‑reviewed publications.
* Embed research within curriculum and contribute to research impact and enterprise strategies.
* Support doctoral supervision and contribute to inclusive research culture.
Learning, Teaching & Scholarship
* Deliver educational knowledge and practice, managing all aspects of curriculum delivery and quality.
* Produce peer‑reviewed pedagogical outputs and innovative curriculum design.
* Provide substantial pastoral support, including placement and internship supervision.
* Use digital technology to enhance learning.
* Engage professional bodies, employers and organisations to improve student outcomes.
* Provide effective feedback to promote student performance.
* Participate in funded educational projects where required.
Leadership & Academic Citizenship
* Support student recruitment and contribute to business planning and strategy.
* Mentor, train and support colleagues’ CPD.
* Engage with professional bodies and community to enhance teaching and learning.
* Ensure high quality external assessment and peer review.
* Contribute to income generation and foster a culture of inclusion.
Other Responsibilities
* Engage in professional development activities (e.g. CPD, conferences).
* Contribute to Open Days, Graduation events, department links and marketing.
* Act as commentator or contributor to media.
* Comply with legislative requirements (Data Protection, Health and Safety, UKVI, Equality and Diversity).
* Carry out other duties as reasonably required.
Qualifications & Experience
* First Degree in a relevant field.
* Doctoral level qualification (or working towards) or relevant professional experience.
* Recognised HE teaching qualification and/or Fellowship of the HEA.
* Expert knowledge in the discipline and specialist teaching skills.
* Excellent customer experience in teaching and learning.
* Proficiency in MS Office and digital tools.

* Strong written and oral communication.
* Effective organisational and time‑management skills.
* Adaptability and flexibility to changing priorities.

* Willingness to work in off‑site locations.
* Willingness to contribute to University Open Days (including Saturdays).
* Required to deliver a micro‑teach during the interview process.
