Meridian Business Support is currently recruiting for aRegistered Care Managerto lead a Children’s Residential Home in the Wigan area of Greater Manchester.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Registered Managerto lead the team at an Residential Children’s home which hold a Good rating with OFSTED, as well as having an excellent reputation with the local authorities.
Many of the Children & Young People supported in this home have learning disabilities, Autism, Epilepsy and/or can display some associated behaviours. Many of our children (not all) are non-verbal or have limited communication and will communicate with us through different methods such as picture boards, Smartbox devices and Makaton.

Develop Comprehensive Care Plans:Ensure each young person has a tailored plan that addresses their care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs.
Develop a great team:Working with the recruitment teams support, bring in the right people for your home. Complete company induction and personal development plans, retaining a strong team to ensure familiar faces for the young people.
Foster Consultation:Develop systems to consult young people about the care they receive.
Allocate Key Workers:Assign a Key Worker to each young person to implement their care plan.
Maintain High Standards:Establish and monitor high-quality care standards in line with the quality standards and the Home’s Statement of Purpose.
Handle Complaints and Concerns:Take responsibility for addressing any complaints or child protection concerns.
Collaborate with Stakeholders:Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to promote the welfare of young people.
Participate in Meetings:Attend and contribute to care planning and review meetings as appropriate.
Embrace a safe culture: Ensure the children in your service are cared for at the best possible standard.Essential Requirements and Experience:
Passionate about making the difference to the lives of young people in care.
Relevant Experience: At least 2 years in a position related to residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.
Qualifications: Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care is essential. Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is preferred at point of application, if not then you must be enrolled on the Level 5 within 6 months of starting in post.
Knowledge: Understanding of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation, and regulatory requirements.
Skills: Efficient in; planning, organizing, budget control, resource allocation, and team leadership.
Communication: Confidence in effective spoken and written communication.
Understanding Trauma: Knowledge of the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, including managing challenging behaviour.
