We deliver Pride events across the Duchy, reaching communities far and wide, alongside our Safer Spaces initiative, inclusion training, and wellbeing programmes. At our heart, we bring people together to celebrate diversity, champion equality, and support LGBTQ+ people and marginalised communities.

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate and community-focused
Engagement Lead

to shape how Cornwall Pride supports and works with volunteers, local communities, and partners.

You will lead on volunteer coordination, inclusion training and community engagement - ensuring that Cornwall Pride's work is rooted in lived experience and accessible to all. This includes
championing and managing our Safer Spaces initiative

, which helps ensure venues, partners, and businesses across Cornwall meet inclusion standards.

This role balances practical delivery (from safeguarding checks to training administration) with amplifying stories and building coalitions across Cornwall.

Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Impact

* Build coalitions with other LGBTQ+ groups and equality movements.

* Partner with organisations and events to strengthen LGBTQ+ visibility in Cornwall.

* Collect and analyse impact data (surveys, statistics, stories) to demonstrate outcomes.

* Collate and maintain databases for volunteers, donors, and Safer Spaces partners.

* Create transparent ways for the community to feed back and help shape Cornwall Pride's work.

Community Safety & Inclusion

* Champion and manage the Safer Spaces programme, supporting applicants through the sign-up process and ensuring inclusion standards are met.

* Build relationships with community groups and individuals to strengthen LGBTQ+ visibility and embed intersectionality across programmes and events.

* Conduct safeguarding checks (DBS) and maintain secure record-keeping.

* Manage the charity's inbox enquiries, ensuring clear signposting to support services (e.g. mental health, hate crime reporting, legal).

Storytelling & Heritage

* Coordinate stories, videos, blogs, case studies, and digital content from volunteers, partners, and Safer Spaces.

* Collaborate with content creators and partner organisations to grow reach and engagement.

* Support LGBTQ+ history and heritage projects that preserve and share community stories.

Volunteer & Staff Engagement

* Recruit, onboard, and manage Cornwall Pride's volunteer network.

* Engage, recognise, and support volunteers to share their experiences in safe, celebrated ways, including through the
Penguin Soup

community.

Key Experience

We are looking for someone who can bring a mix of lived experience, professional skills, and a genuine commitment to inclusion. Ideally, you will have:

* Commitment to Cornwall Pride's values and to creating safe, inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ people and marginalised communities.

* Experience coordinating and supporting volunteers, including recruitment, onboarding, and recognition.

* Strong understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion within the Cornwall landscape, with the ability to embed these principles into community programmes.

* Experience building relationships with community groups, partner organisations, and individuals.

* Experience managing programmes, initiatives, or campaigns that strengthen visibility and engagement.

* Ability to collect, analyse, and present data (e.g. surveys, feedback, impact reporting).

Benefits

* Pension support

* 3% matched pension contributions.

* Flexibility

* flexible working hours, mainly remote, so you can be based anywhere and balance work with life.

* Time to recharge

* 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata).

* Tools for the job

* a laptop provided to make sure you can work effectively wherever you are.

* Meaningful impact

* be part of a passionate, values-led team creating safer, more inclusive communities across Cornwall.

* Use of Hall for Cornwall Husa shared office -
