Job responsibilities
All consultants have continuing and individual responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and a general responsibility to provide an effective service in collaboration with colleagues to meet local needs within available resources. The timetable is indicative and may be negotiated after appointment. The appointed colleague will review their job plan after 3 months with the clinical director/clinical lead and then annually. Education supervision and on-call
Additional roles may be offered subject to mutual agreement, potentially requiring onsite non-clinical work, remunerated through APA within the job plan. The appointee may be named as an anaesthetic trainee Educational Supervisor; educational supervision is paid at 0.25 PA per trainee (max 0.75 PA). Pre-existing NHS responsibilities can be discussed at interview and accommodated by mutual agreement. If private practice is undertaken, the Trust requires an 11th PA prior to such arrangements.
Relocation and on-call requirements
Candidate should reside within 10 miles by road (or 30 minutes travel time for non-resident on call). Relocation expenses are available. Some consultants live further and stay locally for on-call duties; relocation advice can be provided during visits.
