Assistant or Civil Infrastructure Design Engineer

Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 (Dependent on Experience)
A leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an assistant to civil engineer to join an infrastructure team in Billericay. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated engineer to take the next step in their career, working on a wide variety of residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
The Team:
There is a team of four in the Billericay office which comprises of a Technical Director, Principal, Senior and junior engineer. As the mid-level engineer, you will be delivering high-quality design and consultancy services across the full project lifecycle—from feasibility and planning through to detailed design and construction.
The Projects:
Clients are primarily large-scale residential developers, with project sizes ranging from 50 units to several thousand homes. The team’s work covers drainage, highways, and wider development infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the civil design of multiple infrastructure projects, managing day-to-day technical delivery and ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior staff, reviewing and delegating tasks as appropriate.
Prepare concept and detailed drainage strategies.
Develop levels strategies and carry out earthwork appraisals.
Produce planning documentation such as Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Technical Notes, and Utilities Statements.
Manage and secure technical approvals for S104, S38, S278 and other related applications.
Requirements:
Strong technical knowledge and familiarity with relevant standards and guidance including SSG, Building Regulations, DMRB, and CIRIA C753 (SuDS Manual).
Proficient in MicroDrainage/Causeway Flow and AutoCAD at an advanced level. Experience with Civil 3D/Site 3D is beneficial.
Proven experience across project stages including pre-planning, planning, detailed design, and achieving technical approvals for S104, S38, S278 schemes.
