ChampionX is hiring a Senior Chemist in Aberdeen, UK. Oil and gas production faces technical challenges that can be addressed with production chemicals. Our research and development team creates chemical and engineering solutions by replicating conditions in the lab. The candidate will develop innovative solutions using our test equipment and troubleshoot application methods based on field data. Develop novel products for deployment in the field in addition to new testing methodologies for both in field monitoring and laboratory analysis. Exposure to multiple disciplines when looking for solutions to problems with potential career development to adjacent product lines; wax, asphaltenes, gas hydrates, H2S Scavengers etc. Potential to participate in conferences and industry events to present novel research is also encouraged. Conduct laboratory tests to complete project requests. Screen and/or assisting with developing products. Technical report writing and database management. Learn about ChampionX product applications. Provide field support either remotely or onsite. Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of lab sites. Maintain calibration records for equipment. Implement and follow Company safety practices including COSHH and Risk Assessments. Minimum Qualifications: BSc Hons and/or MSc plus experience in multiple facets of the Flow Assurance product range. Previous experience of working with oilfield chemical related projects. Previous experience of working in a laboratory. Previous experience of managing day-to-day projects. Good computer skills must have experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Good oral and written communication skills. Physical Demands: Mixture of office based and standard lab-based work. Preferred Qualifications: Product selection experience Previous experience of writing technical papers as co-author.
