What you’ll do
* Perform structural repairs to steel hulls and decks using burning and grinding techniques
* Fabricate and assemble plate and steelwork using specialist tools and equipment
* Cutting, shaping and assembling steel plates and components
* Translate engineering documents into fabrication plans
* Installing and joining plate, steel and structural materials
Medical requirement
Successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment.
Optimised Working Patterns (OWP)
There is an opportunity for Optimised Working Patterns (OWP) within this role. Whilst OWP is not guaranteed; it involves a 4‑week shift cycle consisting of either day/back shift or day/night shift.
What you’ll need
* Proven experience in structural steel repair and fabrication
* Skilled in using fabrication tools and workshop machinery
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
* Experience in marine engineering or similar sectors (e.g. Royal Navy, RFA, commercial shipbuilding)
* Strong understanding of safety and quality standards in heavy engineering environments
* Indentured Apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in fabrication, structural steel, or sheet metal work (Essential)
Security Clearance
Successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
