Tesco Colleague - Customer Service Desk - Dunmow Superstore

Location: Tesco Great Dunmow, England, United Kingdom

Role summary: A customer-focused role within a diverse team, offering variety, with opportunities for stability or flexibility and potential career progression.

Pay and hours: Our Tesco Colleague rate of pay starts from £12.45 per hour and increases to £13.66 in stores within the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location. New colleagues are offered a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week, with options to work fewer hours (minimum 12) if desired. Hours are scheduled within stated availability windows with 3 weeks' notice of shift timing. We are happy to support flexibility if your availability aligns with the advertised times.

Availability: The role requires availability within the times listed below, with shifts scheduled accordingly. Availability windows will be used to configure your contracted hours. If your exact times differ slightly from what is advertised, we still encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities

* Being a colleague in one of our stores means helping to serve shoppers better every day.
* Meet customers, learn new things, and work with a specialist, diverse team where everyone is welcome.
* Support stability or flexibility in working hours and opportunities for career progression.
* Know your customers and serve them with passion and pride; provide great natural service.
* Be knowledgeable about products and services within the store.
* Apply training to work safely and effectively, ensuring customers are served brilliantly.
* Deal with customer complaints and feedback professionally, ensuring customers leave satisfied.
* Record customer details accurately and treat information confidentially.
* Carry out safe and legal checks on the desk you are trained for, reporting next steps to the Shift Leader/Team Manager.
* Record and dispose of waste responsibly, following food waste and recycling routines.
* Process returned items accurately and professionally.
* Sign in visitors and brief them on health, safety and fire procedures.
* Control desk keys correctly and liaise with Shift Leaders, Managers and Security.
* Participate in seasonal, community and charity events to create an inclusive atmosphere.
* Work across store service and replenishment areas as required.
* Handle products with care to maintain quality and ensure they reach customers in good condition.
* Represent Tesco values, make everyone feel welcome, and follow policies.
