The School and Role
Do you enjoy working with young children and helping them develop confidence and independence?
Are you passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs in their early learning years?
Are you looking for a rewarding role within a nurturing primary school environment?
We are currently seeking a Primary SEND Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated supply team, working in primary SEND and mainstream schools across Ashington. These schools support children with a range of additional needs, and you’ll play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop social skills, and feel safe and supported in school.
In this role, you will support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, assisting with classroom activities, communication, emotional regulation, and behaviour support. You’ll work closely with teachers and SEN staff to follow EHCPs and deliver tailored support that helps every child reach their potential.
The Ideal Primary SEND Teaching Assistant Will Be:
Patient, caring, and enthusiastic about working with young children
Experienced in supporting pupils with SEND in a primary setting
Confident supporting learning, play-based activities, and routines
Able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
Adaptable, resilient, and positive in a busy classroom environment
Experience in education, childcare, or SEND support is highly valued, but a nurturing attitude and willingness to learn are just as important. A DBS on the Update Service is required (or willingness to apply).
