This position is ideal for a recent graduate seeking their first role in publishing! It suits individuals with an excellent eye for detail, strong language skills, and an interest in working in an online editorial environment. It is also suitable for someone with good technical skills looking to move into a fast-growing publishing company in the business compliance sector.

Job Purpose

The editor is responsible for editing and processing content supplied by internal and external authors and compiling weekly eAlerts. Working closely with the Content teams, the editor tags the content correctly and thoroughly checks it to ensure efficient processing through the content management system. The editor also ensures high-quality published products and identifies areas for improvement.

The team seeks an individual confident with technology who can adapt to manipulating content using XML-based editing software within a content management system.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

1. Using editing software to tag content according to instructions from authors, development editors, and content managers, ensuring correct processing in the content management system for online publication.
2. Checking content for spelling, grammar, and editorial errors, adhering to the company’s house style.
3. Monitoring the quality of published content to ensure it appears as expected.
4. Compiling weekly eAlerts to distribute to subscribers.
5. Reviewing progress against schedules, prioritizing work accordingly, and liaising with colleagues as needed.
6. Providing regular feedback to the editorial manager and development editors to maintain editorial consistency and implement improvements.
