Overview
We\'re thrilled to announce an exceptional opportunity for a Project Director within MGroup\'s Renewables Connections division, encompassing Transmission. This is a 12 month fixed term contract where you will be required to be on site. This is a prestigious senior operations role focused on an industry leading project that is in construction, one of our flagship schemes in the UK energy transition.
This position is not a Site Delivery Manager role. Instead, it requires strategic oversight, commercial leadership, and stakeholder management to drive the successful delivery of a high-profile, complex programme. You will be accountable for project delivery, commercial outcomes, and stakeholder engagement.
Where will you be working? At M Group Energy we\'re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.
Responsibilities
* Champion health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ), embedding a culture of zero harm and compliance.
* Lead overall project delivery against commercial position, programme, budget, and quality targets.
* Oversee the performance of the delivery Contract through client liaison and site activities.
* Act as the client-facing lead, managing key relationships with the Client and their stakeholder - National Grid, local authorities, and other external stakeholders.
* Oversee the performance of subcontractors, consultants, and site teams, ensuring risks are managed and delivery standards maintained.
* Take ownership of commercial outcomes, including forecasting, cost control, and reporting to senior leadership.
* Resolve critical project challenges and escalate appropriately.
* Represent MGroup at a senior level, preparing and presenting progress reports to clients and stakeholders.
* Mentor and support delivery managers and site teams, ensuring effective collaboration and performance across disciplines.
* Drive innovation and continuous improvement, supporting the wider growth of MGroup\'s Energy division.
Qualifications
* Proven leadership experience at Project Director level within energy, utilities, or major infrastructure projects (renewables, transmission, or grid connection preferred).
* Strong commercial and contractual acumen, ideally with FIDIC contracts with commercially aware clients.
* A track record of stakeholder engagement at senior levels, including clients, regulators, and local authorities.
* Expertise in project governance, risk management, and financial forecasting.
* Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors on complex, high-value projects.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills with the gravitas to represent MGroup externally.
* A commercially strategic mindset, balancing delivery oversight with long-term objectives.
