A leading defence technology programme is seeking an experienced Technical Architect to provide expert design and technical leadership across complex infrastructure initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to shape integrated technical solutions that underpin critical national systems.

The role is primarily remote, with site attendance in Barrow-in-Furness once or twice per month as required.

Rate - £650 p/d- Inside IR35
Duration - 6 months from start date with potential for extension
Key Responsibilities Take ownership of the design and integration of end-to-end technical solutions across multiple project streams.
Assess and address technical challenges and dependencies, ensuring seamless integration across all areas of delivery.
Collaborate with project and technical leads to develop and deliver solutions that meet defined business and architectural requirements .
Identify, analyse, and mitigate technical risks, providing clear guidance to programme management.
Ensure traceability of requirements through to technical implementation.
Support the development and enhancement of technical standards, policies, and guidelines, promoting best practice across teams.
Conduct technical reviews, audits, and due diligence to maintain solution quality and compliance.
Provide mentorship and promote collaboration between technical workstreams to ensure cohesive delivery.
Required Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Technical Architect within large-scale infrastructure transformation or migration projects .
Strong background in infrastructure design, implementation, and configuration .
Expertise across areas such as SAN migrations, data centre moves, server-based computing, and virtualisation technologies (VDI, application virtualisation) .
Demonstrable experience reviewing and producing design documentation (HLDs/LLDs).
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
Strong technical leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
Experience identifying and managing technical risks within enterprise-level programmes.
A proactive, collaborative approach with a focus on innovation and delivery excellence.
Additional Information Candidates must hold active SC clearance prior to commencement.
Applicants must be sole UK nationals due to project security requirements.
Occasional on-site work in Barrow-in-Furness is required (typically once or twice per month).
