We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and motivated, qualified registered Pharmacy Technician who is keen to develop their skills further, to join our busy pharmacy team at the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC and be actively undertaking CPD. The role is primarily ward based working within a multidisciplinary team to ensure each patient has the right medicines at the right time.
We are fully automated with the Meditech EPMA system, Prescription Tracking System, dispensing robot and have imminent new developments, which the successful candidate will be an essential part of.
We are forward thinking and encourage our Pharmacy Technicians to learn and obtain further relevant qualifications.

Main duties of the job
* Working with members of the multi-disciplinary and medicines optimisation teams
* Performing medicines reconciliation and ordering medication for individual patients
* Dispensing medication both at ward level and in the Pharmacy Department
* Ensuring medicines are in the right place at the right time
* Assisting with discharge planning
* Counselling patients regarding their medication
* Accuracy checking prescriptions
* Educating nursing staff with regards to medicine matters on the ward

Skills & Abilities
* Planning and organising: Demonstrates an ability to prioritise own workload and responds appropriately to urgent and emergency situations
* Analytical and Judgement: Analyses data from prescriptions and uses this to ensure medication dispensed is safe and accurate
* Communication and relationships: Able to present and receive complex, relevant information within a multi professional team, ability to convey sensitive information in an empathetic manner to patients, relative/carers and staff
* Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills, produce timely, accurate written and electronic records and documents
* Training and Education: To be willing to undertake competencies in different areas
* Physical/Practical: Must comply with Workplace Health and Wellbeing pre-employment assessment, dexterity and accuracy in undertaking dispensing, use of equipment and documentation, advanced keyboard skills, to handle cytotoxic and other hazardous materials
Knowledge
* To maintain own knowledge base and remain up to date with current issues in undertaking continual professional development
* Understanding of hospital pharmacy
Experience
* Experience of using JAC software
Qualifications
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician
* NVQ 3 / BTec in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
The salary for this role is £27,485 to £30,162 a year, pro rata, per annum.
