Craiglockhart Medical Group is a training practice with a list size of 9880 patients. We have a full complement of 7 GPs, supported by 2 - 3 Practice Nurses, an HCA, 2 Pharmacists, 2 Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners and a Community Link Worker. We operate from a modern custom built health centre.
We are looking for a Practice Nurse who can undertake a mix of chronic disease management, cervical screening and general nursing duties such as dressings and injection administration. We will also consider candidates who are talented and enthusiastic Treatment Room Nurses who have a more limited knowledge of CDM, such as hypertension, are trained in cervical screening and are willing to undertake additional study / training to further develop their skills. Candidates should be proactive team players who are able to demonstrate initiative and a good bedside manner. Duties will include:
Clinical
1. To manage patients with chronic disease, running specific clinic sessions and maintaining robust call and recall systems.
2. Participate in national screening work such as cervical cytology.
3. Monitoring of Chronic disease based on protocols including relevant prescribing changes.
4. Select, carry out and interpret results of specific tests.
5. Provide directly and assist GPs with contraceptive services.
6. Act as a chaperone when required.
7. Undertake health promotion to help educate patients.
8. Supervision and support of HCA posts.
9. Undertake clinics to include interpretation of blood tests and dosing.
10. Participation at MDT meetings.
Administration
11. To maintain accurate patient records and enter onto the computer using agreed Read Codes.
12. Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care.
13. To collect data and participate in occasional Practice audit and research projects.
14. To contribute to the preparation of any Practice development plans.
General
15. To maintain own annual registration with the NMC and adhere to Code of Professional Conduct.
16. To maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all PHCT staff, patients, carers, and co-workers from other agencies. Ensure all statutory regulations (e.g., Health & Safety, COSHH, etc.) are implemented and adhered to.
17. To promote a professional approach at all times by attire and attitude to patients and staff both in and out of practice.
18. To maintain own continuous professional development and ensure PDP kept up-to-date in line with the requirements of the Practice.
19. Attend and participate in staff and Practice meetings and in-house clinical training sessions.
20. Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time-to-time.
