Overview
HealthHero is recruiting one Urgent Care Assistant to support driving, reception and base duties for Integrated Urgent Care services across Wiltshire, Swindon and Bath and North East Somerset. This is a part-time, permanent role with varied shift patterns including weekday evenings, weekends and some overnight sessions. Shift patterns and rota flexibility can be discussed at the application stage.
About the role
As an Urgent Care Assistant, you will undertake a dual role of driving and reception to support the efficient operation of Integrated Urgent Care services across the South West locality. The service operates 24/7/365 on a rolling 4-week rota pattern, providing care to service users. You will provide non-clinical support to clinicians and patients accessing NHS 111 and GP Out of Hours services. A degree of flexibility is required, and there may be occasional opportunities to work outside contracted hours to support smooth service operation.
Our Urgent Care service operates across Wiltshire, with bases in Chippenham, Keynsham, Salisbury and Swindon. Rota may include the following hours:
* Monday – Friday 18:15/18:30 – 23:00 (Evenings)
* Monday – Friday 23:00 – 08:00 (Overnights)
* Saturday – Monday 08:00 – 08:00 (AM/PM/Evening or Overnight Shifts)
Overnight working is required as part of the role and will form part of the rota. The role may include driving duties in addition to base duties.
Key duties
* Driving
o Drive Clinicians to patients’ homes in a safe and legal manner, adhering to current driving regulations
o Perform basic vehicle checks at the start and end of shifts to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy, fuelled and fully equipped
o Accurately record all medications and consumables used during shifts
* Base
o First point of contact for patients or carers/relatives in designated Treatment Centres
o Support Clinicians while on shift
o Communicate with patients in person and by telephone (comfort & welfare checks)
o Ensure Treatment Centre is kept clean and tidy
* Medication and Stock Management
o Use computer systems to maintain stock levels of medication and consumables
o Replenish car stock at the end of your shift
o Understand stock rotation and expiry dates on weekly deliveries
Full training will be provided. The role may involve sitting at a reception desk or in a car for long periods, carrying weighted emergency equipment and, if necessary, undertaking CPR on the floor. A driver’s medical may be required if successful at interview.

Please note a full UK Driving Licence (with no more than 6 penalty points) is essential, and you should have a good level of driving experience.
