Overview
SRM are preparing for the commencement of a major programme of construction works in Port Talbot, South Wales. The works will involve heavy construction/civil engineering across a variety of industrial work fronts over the next 3 to 4 years, initially proceeding with enabling works ahead of the main programme commencing Q3 2025. This is a great opportunity for a Package Manager with experience on large multi-million-pound multi-disciplinary projects to join the team in Port Talbot. The project value will be in excess of £200m and will be undertaken under an NEC form of contract.
Responsibilities
* As a key member of the project team, reporting to the Chief Engineer, oversee the design, coordination and management of a number of sub-contractors employed in a variety of trades within the area of works.
* Interface between internal departments and external agencies (Architects, Engineers, Construction Workers, Sub-contractors, Client agents, Clerk of Works and Site Staff) with the coordination and management of works contractors delivered under an NEC 4 Construction Management contract.
* Ensure SRM obligations to the client and works contractors are understood and discharged in line with contract conditions.
* Organise and conduct weekly site progress meetings with the works contractors to monitor logistical interfaces, programme, progress, quality and safety; keep the Chief Engineer and Project Manager/Project Director updated on all issues.
Qualifications
* Ideally a degree in civil engineering, heavy construction, construction management or a construction-related field.
* Must be a Team Player and hands-on with a "can do" attitude.
* Will be site-based, acting as a key project team member.
* IT proficiency is essential.
* Ability to prepare a 3-week look-ahead programme with assistance from the project planner.
* Proven experience in package management; experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator would be an advantage.
* Knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
* Working towards or holding a construction industry-related professional membership (eg ICE, CIOB, RICS, etc).
* Ideally located in South Wales within daily travelling distance of Port Talbot.
