Job Description
The Medical Information (MI) Affiliate partner provides strategic and operational support to UK Affiliate
Teams to meet Global Medical Information (GMI) objectives. They are responsible for collaborating with
the GMI Regional Team to align Affiliate Medical Affairs with AbbVie GMI Headquarters. Core job
responsibilities include:
Advising on best practices and presenting Affiliate-specific analytics reports to Global and local
stakeholders.
Contributing to Affiliate training on MI processes and acting as a liaison for Pharmacovigilance,
Product Surveillance and other Affiliate stakeholders.
Managing out of hours Medical Information service vendor and associated processes.
Overseeing digital enhancements within MI processes and managing other responsibilities as
required.
Responsibilities:
MI SME for Local Considerations:
* Liaise with the appropriate subject matter expert for local business considerations, including Data Privacy, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory Affairs, Copyright so as to inform Regional Medical Information Teams as to database and enquiry handling considerations.
* Provide guidance and support to Affiliate stakeholders, including in-field teams, to ensure MI activities comply with local regulatory requirements and organizational policies. Oversee the implementation of digital solutions to enhance MI capabilities and processes in the Affiliate.
* Provide information on products, competitor activity and disease areas in collaboration with Medical Affairs and Pharmacovigilance stakeholders to identify and support business development opportunities (e.g. product launches) as required.
* Liaise with appropriate medical/legal/pharmacovigilance stakeholders in creation of local responses to specific enquiries that are unable to be fulfilled using global response documents.
* Analyze data from medical inquiries to generate insights and develop analytical reports.
* Present insights to regional and Affiliate stakeholders, providing trends and highlighting pertinent topics of interest.
* Share Affiliate feedback on insights and escalated enquiries.
* Lead and implement local initiatives to integrate digital tools and platforms into MI operations, ensuring alignment with GMI goals.
Training and Forums:
* Coordinate, facilitate and deliver MI training to the Affiliate team, as needed.
* Collaborate with the Regional MI Team to update training materials regularly to reflect changes in processes, regulations, and GMI goals.
* Actively participate in MI forums and Affiliate Medical Affairs/local Medical Operations meetings, sharing insights, best practices, and updates relevant to the Affiliate, regional and GMI landscape.
Other Medical Information Local Activities:
* Lead the development and maintenance of local Medical Information procedures and guidelines in line with global requirements and UK legislation
* Oversee operation of the medical information out of hours call service including management of the vendor and associated processes.
* Support the UK PV Team as required to ensure that all of AbbVie’s statutory and ethical responsibilities are met which include UK PSMF creation, risk management activities and audit/inspection management.
* Manage other local responsibilities or projects as required.
Qualifications
Essential Skills:
* Attention to detail and excellent analytical aptitude and clear, concise communication skills both verbally and in writing.
* Researching, analyzing, and evaluating medical information materials using critical thinking skills and interpreting and applying medical information, instructions, policies and procedures and guidelines pertaining to medical communications and release of medical communications.
* Familiarity with pharmaceutical principles, practices and their application, comprehension of medical terminology and treatment modalities and knowledge of pharmacology principles, theory and their application.
* Capacity for driving process improvements and maintaining high-quality standards.
* Experience in leading cross-regional initiatives and coordinating between diverse teams.
* Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills in English
* Works independently: limited guidance/oversight.
* Ability to prioritize, strong planning and excellent organizational skills and the ability to get things done.
* Knowledge and experience in use of computer systems and database and software applications, including Microsoft Office, Power Point, and Excel preferred.
Education and Experience:
* Life Science degree with 2+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience (MI experience preferred) or 4+ years of health care related field experience.
* Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD) with at least three years pharmaceutical or related experience desirable.
* Working knowledge of current regulatory requirements (e.g. GxP regulations, MHRA /European Medicines, PIPA, DIA), and/or other guidelines and knowledge of AbbVie therapeutic areas and research interests desired.
* Experience of working and communicating as part of a cross functional multi-disciplinary team desirable
* Demonstrated experience in facilitating and conducting training sessions
