Overview
The role covers the management of the software development and testing teams within Certara UK and supervising the QA Manager to ensure all software and infrastructure related aspects of the QMS and Data Management functions comply with current regulation and best practice.
The role covers leading and managing the following:
1. Desktop developments: managing the development of all desktop applications and prototypes as well as planning development strategy going forwards.
2. Cloud and web developments: managing the development and support of DevOps, Cloud, and SaaS offerings for both internal and client tenant systems.
3. Software testing: managing the test team ensuring best practice and technologies are utilized.
You will play a pivotal role in the leadership and management of the software development teams. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire software development process, from project initiation to successful delivery. Your primary focus will be on managing and leading a team of talented software developers, engineers, and other technical professionals to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget. You will provide strategic plans to future proof the software development processes and products and work closely with software development and infrastructure teams within the division and across Certara Software Development groups, assisting with implementing the company business and financial objectives.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership : Build and lead a high-performing software development team, providing mentorship and guidance to team members.
Project Management : Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Resource Allocation : Efficiently allocate resources, including personnel, to meet project goals and optimize team productivity.
Manpower Planning : Create and execute strategic resource plans, identifying skill gaps and hiring as necessary to meet project needs.
Performance Evaluation : Implement performance management processes, providing constructive feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
Quality Assurance : Ensure that the software development process adheres to best practices, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Conflict Resolution : Address and resolve conflicts within the team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Budget Management : Manage and monitor the budget for software development projects, including computation and services resources, making adjustments as needed to ensure financial objectives are met.
Technology Innovation : Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation within the team.
Qualifications
4. A university degree in computer sciences, software engineering or related fields;
5. Excellent organisational, communications and inter-personal skills;
6. A minimum of 10 years of software development experience and proven track record of leading and managing software development teams;
7. Experience of successful delivery of industrial software products;
8. Strong evidence of managing changes and strategic thinking to drive innovation.
