Salary: Unqualified Lecturer: £29,294 per year, pro rata Qualified Lecturer: £31,885 - £40,814 per year, pro rata (Depending on Skills, Qualifications & Experience)

Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time 29.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

What You'll Do

As a Lecturer in Public Services, you will teach and assess learners across a range of programmes from Level 1 to Level 3, helping them develop the knowledge, skills, confidence, and behaviours required for progression into public service careers and further study.

You will:

* Deliver engaging, practical, and industry-relevant lessons that develop leadership, communication, teamwork, resilience, problem-solving, and employability skills
* Teach a broad range of Public Services topics, preparing learners for progression into careers within the police, armed forces, fire and rescue services, ambulance service, prison service, local government, and wider public sector organisations
* Use practical and innovative teaching approaches, including scenario-based learning, fieldwork, enrichment activities, guest speakers, and real-world public service contexts
* Support and lead outdoor and adventurous activities that help learners build confidence, teamwork, leadership, self-reliance, and resilience
* Plan, assess, and monitor learner progress, providing constructive feedback and support to maximise achievement
* Maintain high standards of safeguarding, professionalism, health and safety, and learner wellbeing
* Contribute to curriculum development and the continued growth of an inspiring and inclusive learning environment
* Build positive relationships with employers, public service organisations, and external partners to enhance learner opportunities and experiences

What You'll Bring

* A relevant qualification in Public Services, Uniformed Protective Services, Criminology, Policing, Military Studies, Emergency Planning, Leadership, or a related subject (Level 3 or above)
* Strong subject knowledge and the ability to motivate and inspire learners through engaging and practical teaching
* Industry experience within the Armed Forces, Police, Fire & Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, Prison Service, Security Sector, Public Sector, Emergency Services, or a related field, or experience supporting learners in education or training
* Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
* A commitment to inclusive teaching, learner success, and maintaining high professional standards
* A Level 4 teaching qualification or above is welcomed but if you don't have one yet, we'll support you to achieve it while you work

Desirable

* Experience in outdoor and adventurous activities, expedition leadership, or outdoor education
* Qualifications such as Mountain Leader, Lowland Leader, Duke of Edinburgh Award leadership, National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS), outdoor first aid, or equivalent outdoor leadership qualifications
* Experience using outdoor learning to develop leadership, teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving skills in young people
