Job Description
Play a key role in protecting UK airspace through next-generation defence technologies. At ALTEN, we’re supporting high-impact projects that enhance national surveillance and security capabilities. As a System Integration & Verification Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of integrating and validating radar and sensor systems, helping ensure the security and performance of critical airspace monitoring infrastructure. From requirements traceability to real-world testing, you’ll work hands-on across the full systems engineering lifecycle.
Key Details:
Location: On-site in Belfast
Security Clearance: Must be SC Clearable (5 Years in the UK minimum)
Experience Level: 5+ years' experience in Systems Engineering or Integration
Key Responsibilities:
* Integrate complex software and hardware subsystems used in radar and surveillance platforms
* Lead verification activities across system lifecycle (FAT, SAT, V&V, UAT)
* Develop and execute system-level test plans and procedures aligned with project goals
* Manage requirements traceability using tools such as DOORS or Jama Connect
* Write and maintain structured documentation using VCRI or similar templates
* Collaborate closely with internal and external engineering stakeholders
* Apply awareness of Environmental/EMC standards such as MIL-STD, DEF-STAN, or DO-160
Qualifications
Required Skills:
* Strong knowledge of system integration and test planning
* Proficient in end-to-end V&V processes and structured systems engineering
* Experience with DOORS, Jama Connect, or similar requirements management tools
* Skilled in executing and reporting on system-level test events (FAT, SAT, UAT)
* Familiar with the V-Model lifecycle and requirements traceability methods
* Understanding of Environmental & EMC compliance (MIL-STD, DEF-STAN, DO-160/DO-254)
Required Qualifications:
* A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems, Software, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline
OR a relevant technical military background with hands-on systems experience (equally valued)
* Must be eligible for SC clearance (have lived in the UK for a minimum of 5 years)
Desirable Skills:
* Familiarity with Jira, Palma, or similar test/project tracking tools
* Experience working in regulated environments with safety/security standards
* Background in radar systems, air traffic control, or sensor-based defence systems
