About The Business Division
Mott MacDonald’s Water Utilities Division leads the UK and Ireland's water and wastewater challenges, ensuring safe water supplies, preventing urban flooding, and improving river and coastal health. The division provides advisory services, feasibility studies, and design across the full project life cycle.
Overview Of The Role
The Asset Management and Infrastructure Planning team, a sub‑sector of the Water Utilities Division, manages around 350 people across the UK. This senior technical assurance role focuses on regulatory compliance, investment planning, and asset management for water and wastewater utilities.
Workstream Areas
 * Technical assurance of statutory regulatory submissions (annual performance reporting, business cases, business plans, strategic plans, operational performance)
 * Water resource investment planning
 * Wastewater and bioresources investment planning
 * Strategic asset management and business planning
 * Carbon and net zero appraisal and strategic planning
 * Integrated systems management
 * Data analytics and decision support tools
 * Contract appraisal (NEC, PPP)
Candidate Specification
 * Regulatory technical assurance experience linked to the water industry's AMP cycles
 * Academic and professional qualifications relevant to water utilities, engineering, or economics
 * Background in engineering, accounting/economics, asset management, auditing or technical assurance of statutory regulatory submissions
 * Experience applying ISO standards, technical audits, and service performance metrics to regulatory requirements
 * Ability to deliver technical assurance within regulatory submission timeframes
 * Membership of a professional body or water regulatory network
 * Strong written and oral presentation skills for assurance findings and reports
 * Adaptability to changing situations and emerging risks
 * Willingness to travel within the UK and on short international visits
