The Material Controller will be responsible for ensuring the effective planning of manufactured and/or purchased material to maximise the effective use of resources and minimise any disruption caused by constraints.
This is working for a global manufacturing business and is required on an 18-month contract.
The role benefits from hybrid working with you typically being on site 3 days per week. The working pattern means you finish work on a Friday at 1.30 pm giving you more of a weekend!
Role and Responsibilities of the Material Controller
* Ensure component requirements are correct and communicated to suppliers in a timely, professional manner
* Understand and implement any MRP generated 'messages' and amend supplier schedules accordingly
* Manage open order books to ensure appropriate order coverage and optimal inventory levels
* Ensure inventory levels of components under individual control are in alignment with departmental objectives
* Ensure external logistics costs are optimised using normal transportation methods
* Highlight future supply risks
* Provide monthly forecast of expected deliveries
* Proactively resolve invoice queries
* Identify and remedy excess inventory
Candidate requirements for the Material Controller
* Previous experience required in a similar role
* CIPS qualification is advantageous
* Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Be able to identify problems and offer solutions
* Sound working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably Infor
