Job Description
Element have an opportunity for a Software Asset Manager, who will be required to govern, manage, execute and evolve Element’s Software Asset and growing SaaS Management function across all aspects of the software asset lifecycle including licence entitlement tracking, forecasting, usage identification and monitoring, optimisation, reusing and termination.
This will report directly to the Global Head of Service Management.
Core Responsibilities
* Review the existing SAM function and tooling and ensure it remains fit for purpose against the growing usage of SaaS. If required lead on the selection and set up of a suitable toolkit to address any gaps in tooling capability
* Work with governance, technology, procurement, finance and legal to propose updated software use policies that are appropriate for our increasing SaaS usage
* Provide a licence advisory and governance service to the business technology teams
* Own, operate and maintain our Software Asset Management tooling and integrations of data from non-SAM-owned sources, and manage our tooling vendor
* Review and approve ad-hoc end user software deployment requests
* Impact assesses infrastructure change requests against relevant licensing terms
* Deliver regular compliance statements and present these to senior stakeholders, making recommendations for cost savings and cost avoidance
* Take the lead role in any software audits and licence validation requests
* Support the procurement and relevant product teams by advising on true-ups / true-downs / termination of licence and support agreements as part of the renewals process
* Conduct licence optimisation, reusing and management including consolidation exercises
* Keep up to date to an expert level, multi-vendor licensing knowledge, and share this knowledge with stakeholders and colleagues
Skills / Qualifications
* Detailed licensing knowledge including how licence compliance is calculated and managed with vendors including, but not limited to: Apple, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Citrix, VMWare, Oracle and Salesforce
* Deep understanding and comprehensive exposure to complex server licensing environments including Data Centres, DR, Virtualisation and Cloud
* Excellent SAM knowledge particularly around standards such as ISO 19770 and ITIL v3
* Ability to understand software contracts, deployment reports and licensing grants in order to produce and interpret licensing compliance statements
* Extensive experience working within the software licensing industry
