We are currently recruiting on behalf of an NHS Trust in the South East who are seeking an experienced Interim Finance Project Manager to support the implementation of a new financial ledger system and lead finance workstreams across key transformation initiatives.
This is a Band 7-level assignment, offered via the CCS NMNC RM6277 Framework, and is available at the NHS agency capped rate for band 7. The role will be hybrid, with 3 days per week required on-site and 2 days working from home.
About the Role:
As the Project Finance Manager, you will play a critical role in delivering finance components of strategic and operational programmes—most notably, the implementation of a new general ledger system.
You will be responsible for:
Leading on the design, configuration, and go-live of the new ledger system;
Mapping financial processes and integrating systems across finance, procurement, and HR;
Delivering robust financial project plans, budgeting, and forecasting;
Ensuring financial compliance, internal controls, and post-implementation review;
Supporting data migration and ensuring adherence to NHS financial reporting frameworks;
Providing financial assurance and reporting to senior leadership.
Key Stakeholder Engagement:
You’ll work collaboratively with finance, IT, procurement, operations, and external vendors, ensuring that the finance elements of transformation projects are well-integrated, financially sound, and aligned with organisational goals.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Health Economics (required);
Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent – part or fully qualified);
Proven project management skills; ideally PRINCE2 or similar methodology;
Previous experience in ledger or finance system implementation in the NHS or similar complex environment;
Strong financial planning, forecasting, and reporting capabilities;
Ability to manage financial risks and ensure compliance with SFIs, IFRS, and NHS frameworks.
