We are seeking a Pastoral Support Officer to work closely with students, their families, and school staff, providing tailored support, tracking progress, and helping foster positive outcomes. Secondary schools across Sunderland are inviting applications for a Pastoral Support Officer to support students who may need extra guidance with emotional, behavioural, or attendance challenges. This role is crucial in helping students stay engaged with learning and school life. Main responsibilities include: Supporting pupils with wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance Working individually or in small groups with students Collaborating with pastoral teams, teaching staff, and external agencies Assisting students during lessons, break times, and other unstructured periods We are looking for candidates who: Have experience in pastoral care, youth work, or school settings (preferred but not essential) Are passionate about student wellbeing and inclusion Can build positive and professional relationships with students and colleagues This position provides valuable experience for those interested in careers in education, social care, or youth work.
