About the role

Part time vacancy – 18.5 hours per week. You will be the first point of contact for all members of the public visiting the police station. You will deal with victims and offenders, manage their expectations, offer support and reassurance to vulnerable people, reason with and calm emotional, angry and aggressive visitors. You will check and record details in police IT systems, deal with internal customers, provide high‑quality customer service in accordance with current legislation, policy and procedures, and be responsible for the general administration and receipt and return of property.

* General administration – responsibility for the receipt and return of property.

* Assertive and able to remain calm and think logically in challenging situations.
* Sensitive and understanding to the needs of an emotional victim.
* Appreciation of confidentiality and diversity.
* Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills essential.
* Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
* Ability to undertake physical Personal Safety Training.

Training

A mandatory 1‑hour awareness session via Microsoft Teams is required for all applicants to progress. Please attend one of the three sessions listed above. There is also a requirement to attend a 2‑week full‑time training course based at Kidlington or in Hampshire. If the training is in Hampshire, hotel accommodation will be provided.

Eligibility

TVP employees who have been in their current post for less than 12 months must seek approval from their line manager to be eligible to apply for this role.
