Registered Veterinary Nurse
Wendover Heights Vets, Halton
Salary up to £30,000 depending on experience plus a relocation allowance up to £1,000 is available.
We are looking for a Full-Time Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our well-established mixed practice. Our main surgery is based in Halton, just outside of Wendover, with our branch surgery being on the Prestwood/Great Missenden border, both in leafy Buckinghamshire. The Halton (main surgery) borders Wendover Woods and is surrounded by beautiful scenery (including a fantastic sunset on a good day!), we encourage staff to get out at lunchtime for a scenic walk with their dogs which we have specific facilities for during the working day.
We are looking for a small animal nurse who enjoys all aspects of their job – from clinics to theatre to patient care.
About the rota
As a practice we still offer our own OOH service and therefore currently offer a 1 in 8 weekend rota with sleeping night duties also included on a rota basis. We know that a work-life balance is important to everyone and therefore offer a 35-hour week to balance out any unsocial hours you may encounter during OOH work. A typical working week comprises of 5 working days with variable 7 hour shifts between 7am and 7.30pm, some weekday sleeping duty shifts are included within this and accommodation is provided (additional OOH retainer fees are paid on top of agreed upon salary).
Bring your dog to work!
We have staff kennels so you are able to bring your dog to work. Not only does it mean that you do not have to worry about your dog being at home alone on those busy days, but you can also get out of the building at lunch time. Stretch your legs in the scenic countryside!
Want to know more about us?
We are a busy mixed practice based just outside of Wendover, a small market town with great transport links to London and the rest of the country via train. Our branch surgery is situated in Great Missenden and is easily accessible from the main practice by car. Transport links from here are also excellent, with a mainline train enabling you to easily access London.
At our main branch we have excellent facilities with x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, and a well-equipped laboratory. We have cat, dog, and exotic kennels, as well as separate isolation kennels. We also have fenced paddock areas for inpatient exercise.
Our branch surgery is much smaller, but also busy with a strong client base, and a more family feel.
We are also a training practice with the College of Animal Welfare (CAW) and take both degree and diploma students.
Come and join our friendly and supportive team!
Our nursing team is currently made up of 16 Registered Veterinary Nurses (both Small Animal and Equine), 4 Student Veterinary Nurses, and 1 Veterinary Care Assistant. We also have 13 SA Vets and 4 Equine Vets as well as an onsite Hydrotherapist and Physiotherapist. We have a wonderful and collaborative team and very much encourage nurses to take their interests further and support further training. Several members of our nursing team have advanced certificates in various areas – such as Surgical Nursing, Anaesthesia, Medical Nursing, Exotic Nursing, Feline Nursing, Behaviour & Nutrition. We also love to train nurses of the future so previous experience as a clinical coach, or a willingness to become one, would be advantageous.
