Commissioning Manager - Nuclear Defence
Location: AWE Burghfield, Berkshire
Rate: c. £600 per day (Outside IR35)
Contract: Until October 2026
Start: ASAP
Clearance: SC or DV preferred
Working Pattern: Mon-Fri, 45 hrs/week, full-time on site
Role Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Commissioning Manager to support a major nuclear defence programme at AWE Burghfield. The role involves managing and coordinating commissioning activities across specialist equipment, building services, and control systems on a highly regulated site.
Key Responsibilities
Manage commissioning work packages and supplier activities
Ensure compliance with AWE procedures and ONR LC21
Review and approve test documentation
Plan, coordinate, and witness FAT/SAT
Integrate commissioning activities into the project programme
Track readiness, report progress, and resolve test failures
Chair commissioning and stakeholder reviews
Ensure safe systems of work during testing and commissioning
Requirements
Strong experience commissioning large, complex facilities
Background in nuclear, defence, or similarly regulated sectors
Proven ability to lead multi-discipline commissioning teams
Solid knowledge of commissioning methodologies
Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience)
SC or DV clearance preferred (or willing to obtain)
Full UK driving licence
