Set in the heart of the Cotswolds village of Ewen, near Cirencester, The Wild Duck is a beautifully restored country inn entering an exciting new chapter under the ownership of Sam and Georgie, founders of the acclaimed Country Creatures hospitality group. With a renewed focus on craftsmanship, warmth, elevated dining, and exceptional guest experience, The Wild Duck is fast becoming one of the most special places to stay in the region.
We are now seeking an exceptional Head Housekeeper to lead the care, presentation, and comfort of our 20 stunning bedrooms — setting the standard for immaculate, welcoming spaces that guests will remember long after they leave.
The Role
This is a hands-on, people-focused leadership position, leading a close-knit team of four while ensuring our bedrooms and public areas are kept to the very highest standard. You will be at the heart of the guest experience, playing a vital role in maintaining the beauty, cleanliness, and atmosphere of this much-loved inn.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Leading day-to-day housekeeping operations across all bedrooms and public areas
* Training, motivating, scheduling, and supporting a team of four housekeepers
* Ensuring every room meets premium presentation and comfort standards
* Managing stock control and ordering of all cleaning products and supplies
* Overseeing laundry processes, including external suppliers
* Implementing cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, and safety protocols
* Carrying out regular inspections and reporting maintenance issues promptly
* Working closely with the General Manager and operations team
* Maintaining accurate records for budgets, stock, and compliance
About You
You’ll be someone who takes pride in perfection and leads with warmth, clarity, and confidence. Ideally, you will have:
* Previous experience in a senior housekeeping or housekeeping management role
* Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills
* Exceptional attention to detail and pride in immaculate standards
* Confidence with stock control, ordering, and basic budget oversight
* A proactive, reliable nature with a calm, positive approach
* A genuine passion for hospitality and guest experience
