Job Overview You will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality control activities to ensure products and processes meet stringent technical, regulatory and customer specifications. This role centres on developing, implementing and managing robust quality control systems, conducting inspections, analysing defects and driving corrective actions to achieve zero defect supply. About You Degree qualification (or equivalent), preferably in an engineering discipline 3 years experience in quality control in a manufacturing or technical environment Strong knowledge of inspection, testing and defect analysis Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and specifications, with familiarity in using QC equipment Ability in identifying root causes of defects and implementing effective corrective actions Key Duties 1. Quality Control System Development and Execution : Design and implement quality control plans, including inspection protocols, testing procedures, and acceptance criteria, to ensure compliance with technical specifications and UK/EU standards (e.g. CE, ISO 9001). Oversee in-process and final product inspections, including factory acceptance testing Maintain accurate QC documentation, including control plans, inspection records, and test reports. 2. Inspection and Testing Oversight : Lead teams in conducting visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of materials, components, and finished products. Manage and validate testing processes (e.g., mechanical, electrical) to identify defects and ensure product performance. 3. Defect Analysis and Corrective Actions : Conduct root cause analysis on defects and implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve quality issues and minimize non-conformance rates. Monitor and report quality metrics to the senior management team with a view to drive continuous improvement. 4. Supplier Quality Control : Develop incoming material inspection protocols to ensure supplier compliance with quality and safety standards. Conduct supplier audits in the UK or abroad, collaborating on corrective actions to address material quality issues. Maintain a supplier quality performance log to ensure consistent quality and compliance. 5. Compliance and Reporting : Ensure QC activities comply with UK and EU regulations, such as UKCA marking, CE marking (for EU exports), and industry-specific standards (e.g. WIMES). Prepare detailed reports on QC performance, defect trends, and improvement initiatives for senior management and regulatory audits. 6. Risk Management : Identify and mitigate quality risks in production processes or product designs, ensuring compliance with UK health and safety regulations. Support new product introduction (NPI) by advising quality control checkpoints during design and production phases.
