Reed Talent Solutions
Payroll administrator
£30,000 - £60,000 a year

Offer description

An iconic public sector organisation is currently recruiting for 2 high-calibre Payroll Administrators to join their busy team during a critical period of transformation.

Based in central London, the role will be offered as hybrid with 3 days per week in the office.

This will be a 6 month initial assignment with the likelihood of extension due to the complexity of the project. This rate for this role will be up to £29.85p/h umbrella (or PAYE £22.87p/h)

With over 8,000 employees across 16 payrolls, this is a hands-on role requiring precision, adaptability, and initiative.

You'll be joining us at a pivotal time as they transition from Oracle to SAP, and from Midland iTrent to SAP SuccessFactors for payroll. The HR module of SAP goes live at the start of December, while payroll will follow on in April. In the interim, you'll play a vital role in manually replicating payroll adjustments—including starters, leavers, and contractual changes—across both systems.

Key Responsibilities

* Process selected payrolls in line with agreed timetables under the direction of the Payroll Supervisor.
* Manually replicate payroll changes across systems during the transition period.
* Handle complex payroll queries from employees, managers, and statutory bodies (e.g. HMRC, DWP).
* Administer schemes such as car mileage, season ticket loans, and bike loans.
* Ensure timely third-party payments (e.g. Attachment of Earnings).
* Support salary advance claims and act as Stage 1 BACS Approver.
* Participate in payroll projects and system upgrade testing (UAT).
* Maintain compliance with data security, equal opportunities, and relevant legislation.

The ideal candidate

* Has strong payroll experience, ideally in large, complex organisations.
* Can work confidently and independently in a fast-paced environment.
* Is highly adaptable and proactive, with excellent attention to detail.
* Has experience with Midland iTrent and/or SAP SuccessFactors (highly desirable).
* Has participated in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) or similar system implementation projects.
* Is comfortable navigating change and ambiguity, and supporting users through transition.

If you have the right experience and skills for this assignment, apply now and we'll be in touch.
