We are partnering with a leading East Anglia-based accounting firm to recruit a Financial Controller based in their King's Lynn, West Norfolk office. This firm is renowned for delivering exceptional service to clients, with a strong focus on innovation, integrity, and professional excellence. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative environment, leading a small team of finance and administrative professionals while working closely with the partner group.

Role Overview:

As Financial Controller, you will oversee internal accounting operations, manage compliance, and support strategic decision-making. You will ensure the smooth running of financial processes, payroll, HR management, and organisational reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Finance:

1. Prepare and distribute management accounts within agreed timescales
2. Monitor and report key performance indicators
3. Submit VAT and CT61 returns as required
4. Monitor and forecast cash flow
5. Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting
6. Support financial statement preparation and assist in budget and forecast development

Payroll & Pension:

7. Process payroll for approximately 145 employees
8. Administer the employee pension scheme, including year-end processing

HR & Organisational Management:

9. Optimise internal HR system usage and issue HR letters
10. Support HR matters and maintain employee records, absence reports, and organisational policies
11. Plan and manage annual returns, insurance portfolios, and strategic projects

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

12. ACA or ACCA qualified, or equivalent experience
13. Minimum 5 years' accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
14. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
15. Proficiency in accounting software (DEXT, Xero, Sage Payroll) and Microsoft Office Suite
16. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable Attributes:

17. Experience providing HR support and maintaining HR policies in line with Employment Law
18. Approachable, supportive, and capable of mentoring team members
19. Ability to work collaboratively, maintain confidentiality, and uphold organisational standards
