CAMHS Assertive Outreach Mental Health Practitioner
Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
We are seeking knowledgeable, creative and dynamic individuals to join the well‑established Brighton CAMHS Assertive Outreach Team (CAOT). We have two vacancies, ideally one full‑time post and one part‑time post but will consider two part‑time posts. This post would also be available as a secondment opportunity.
We are a friendly and supportive multi‑disciplinary team, offering flexible, creative and accessible support to young people who are unable to access mainstream mental health services and would benefit from an outreach approach. CAOT works closely with both CAMHS and Adult Mental Health Services, as we support young people aged 14‑25. Our work includes assessing young people’s mental health, risk management and care planning, and working with families and the wider systems around young people.
As a Mental Health Practitioner in our team you will provide assessment and bespoke interventions for children and young people referred into our service. Flexibility, creativity and passion are highly valued within our small MDT team and we work closely with one another to develop care plans and interventions to meet a wide range of needs.
Our team covers the Brighton and Hove area and we are based largely out of a vibrant youth centre – The Young People Centre – in the Lanes. We work across the city, visiting young people at home, at school/college or at other locations that support them to be able to engage with us, including going for walks or drives.
Contributing to the management of a team caseload of clients with complex needs, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. We follow a multi‑disciplinary approach and you will provide specialist assessment and intervention utilising a range of approaches.
This post offers the Trust’s £2,000 Golden Hello or Relocation Incentive for Band 6 Nurses & Practitioners, (pro rata and subject to terms and conditions; please see attached Protocol Document for full details).
We provide mental health and learning disability care for children, young people and adults across Sussex and for children and young people in Hampshire.
