Job Description
Job Purpose
The post holder will lead an interdisciplinary AI project funded by Prostate Cancer UK, developing models to integrate histology, single-cell RNA sequencing, and spatial omics data to predict prostate cancer metastasis. The role involves collaboration with Dr. Ke Yuan and Professor Hing Leung, focusing on deep learning, medical imaging, and spatial omics data analysis.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plan and conduct research aligned with project goals and strategies.
2. Document research findings, analyze data, and prepare reports and publications.
3. Enhance research profile through publications, conferences, and societal impact.
4. Participate in presentations, seminars, and workshops.
5. Identify funding opportunities and assist in proposal development.
6. Collaborate within the research team and broader academic community.
7. Supervise and mentor students and junior researchers.
8. Perform administrative and teaching duties as assigned.
9. Stay updated on advances in the field and engage in professional development.
10. Contribute to the university’s international profile and strategic goals.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential: Honours degree (SCQF Level 10) in a relevant field, knowledge of deep learning for medical imaging/omics, programming skills in Python, experience with TensorFlow/PyTorch, strong communication skills, and research experience.
Desirable: PhD (or near completion), experience with single-cell omics, and a track record of publications and presentations.
Terms and Conditions
Salary: Grade 6/7, £33,482 - £37,174 / £40,497 - £45,413 per annum. Funding for up to 36 months. Full-time position. Eligibility to work in the UK required.
