Offer description

Resettle & Reintegrate (Intensive Intervention & Risk Management Services) are innovative community services providing an alternative approach to enhancing the lives of service users with complex needs related to personality disorders and offending histories. We are a true partnership model between Merseycare NHS Trust, the Probation Service, and Merseyside Police, part of the Offender Personality Pathway. The intervention model is psychologically informed, offering holistic and systemic intervention based on therapeutic community and sociotherapy principles.

The post holder will assist in conducting interventions focused on emotional wellbeing and offending behavior, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Opportunities for development include competencies for Stage II Forensic Psychology training, under supervision of a Consultant Clinical & Forensic Psychologist.

Mersey Care is one of the largest trusts providing physical and mental health services in the North West, serving over 1.4 million people and offering specialist inpatient and community services, including high secure mental health facilities. Our core commitment is to provide safe, effective, timely, equitable, and efficient care, supporting staff and collaborating with service users, families, and carers to develop future services. We are currently undergoing organizational and service transformation to improve quality and reduce costs.

Flexible working requests will be considered for all roles.

The role involves assisting the intervention lead in developing, delivering, and maintaining evidence-based offending interventions for high-risk, complex individuals. This includes individual and group therapy, developing psychological formulations based on various explanatory models, and refining hypotheses.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Providing sensitive and complex information to service users with offence-related risks, using principles of motivational interviewing and managing exposure to distressing emotional circumstances.
2. Conducting highly specialist psychological assessments for clients with offence-related difficulties, interpreting complex data from multiple sources including tests, measures, observations, and interviews.
3. Formulating and implementing plans for psychological intervention and management of offending difficulties, based on comprehensive conceptual frameworks and employing proven methods across care settings.
4. Delivering psychological interventions as directed by the lead.
5. Communicating assessment, formulation, and treatment plans sensitively to service users and monitoring progress within multidisciplinary care.
6. Preparing and presenting psychological reports as directed by the psychology lead.
