A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an EVENING X-RAY ASSISTANT at Poole Hospital, University Hospitals Dorset. Currently, we have a vacancy in our team of 3 evening X-ray assistants. The successful candidate would become part of the X-ray Evening Assistant team and rota, working 3 consecutive evenings a week pro rota between the hours 16:30 - 00:15. All duties would mainly be based in the Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Treatment Care (UTC) areas in X-ray, with some support in the main X-ray department as required.
The role involves supporting radiographers in patient imaging, offering patient care and assistance, communicating with wards, and basic IT skills. The base location is Poole Hospital. The interview date is to be confirmed.
Main duties of the job
1. Assisting radiographers and being part of the X-ray team.
2. Changing and prepping patients as needed.
3. Transporting trolley patients between areas.
4. Communicating and organizing patients from wards.
5. Using radiology IT and portering systems.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Undertaking clerical duties, including using the Radiology Information System and E.D. Agyle system.
* Ensuring documentation accuracy and integrity prior to examinations.
* Assisting in moving patients, equipment, or stock.
* Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in patient and staff areas, including damp dusting X-ray equipment.
* Maintaining stock levels of consumables in X-ray rooms.
* Accurate record keeping and data input on Trust IT systems.
* Maintaining mandatory training and competencies, including resuscitation, H&S, fire, and manual handling.
* Adhering to departmental protocols and policies.
* Using initiative and judgment for decision-making.
* Being flexible with working arrangements to meet patient needs.
* Undertaking other duties as assigned, in line with post development.
Person specification
Experience
Desirable: Previous care work experience.
Skills
Essential: Excellent communication, teamwork, patient care, ability to handle anxious or distressed patients, personal time management, basic computer and data input skills.
Desirable: Previous use of NHS IT systems, RIS & EPR.
Qualifications
Essential: General education to GCSE level or equivalent.
Personal Attributes
Essential: Enthusiastic attitude, eagerness to learn, flexibility.
Knowledge
Essential: Basic understanding of UHD values.
