We operate 24/7 and as such you are required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on‑call rota. Full training, PPE and use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes’ high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.

Monday to Friday, 50 hours (3 weeks of days, 1 week of nights)
Salary
OTE £37,000 per annum (made up of overtime, night shift allowances and any bonuses)

About The Role
Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to wastewater network and drainage problems.
* Working alongside an HGV two‑person crew, to operate a portareel for both planned and reactive blockages
* Delivering good customer service
* Maintaining good H&S practice while carrying out works
* Ensuring vehicle stock is full and replenished
* Complying with health and safety responsibilities, e.g. PPE, safe site set‑ups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users
* Being able to utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms
* Liaising with the client regarding progress and any updates
* Ability to work unsupervised in all weather conditions utilising correct PPE, lone worker system, etc
* Dynamically risk‑assessing site access & working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival
* Providing support to colleagues
* Conducting thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before/after use
* Reporting any defects or malfunctions in regards to training
* Carrying out risk assessments and having a mature approach to risk perception
* Being aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them
* Any other reasonable ad‑hoc duties requested by management

About You
The ideal candidate will be hard working and respectful and comply with health and safety standards. Experience in the use of High Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are an advantage.
