About the role
The Sous Chef role at Avery Healthcare offers an opportunity to join an award-winning team and make a positive impact on the lives of residents in a caring and supportive environment. Successful candidates will have a relevant catering qualification, a minimum of 1 year of catering experience, and demonstrate compassion and commitment to delivering high‑quality culinary services.
Job Responsibilities
* Prepare modified diets that look appealing, are well‑balanced, and comply with IDDSI guidance.
* Supervise and direct the work of culinary staff, providing instruction and demonstration to unqualified staff on simple food preparation activities.
* Ensure all food preparation meets the highest hygiene standards by understanding safe food handling principles.
* Support all culinary team members in fully understanding the Avery Food safety management system.
About You
* Hold a relevant catering qualification City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent.
* Have a minimum of 1 year of catering experience.
* Demonstrate compassion and commitment to delivering high‑quality culinary services to residents.
* Be able to adapt and be flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
