We're looking for a creative and motivated Junior Designer to join our growing team in the architectural metal screen and façade industry.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about metal design, laser cutting, and custom fabrication, who wants to gain experience in both design and on-site project delivery.
As a Junior Metal Screen Designer and Site Supervisor, you will assist in the design, detailing, and implementation of decorative metal screens, cladding, and other custom architectural products. You'll work closely with senior designers and fabricators to turn concepts into reality, from the initial shop drawings to the final completion and installation.
This position offers hands-on exposure to design software, manufacturing processes, and site coordination, making it ideal for someone eager to grow their skills in the metal fabrication and architectural design field.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with the design and detailing of metal screens, panels, and architectural features.
• Create technical drawings, 3D renders, and fabrication files for laser cutting and assembly.
• Support the production team with clear instructions and ensure designs are practical for manufacturing.
• Attend site visits and installations, assisting with measurements, supervision, and client coordination.
• Collaborate with senior designers to develop new products and improve existing systems.
• Participate in project meetings, helping manage timelines and workflow.
• Work with the sales team to estimate materials and costs for proposals.
Skills & Qualifications
• Proficient in AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Solid/Sheet Works (experience with Inventor an advantage).
• Experience interpreting architectural drawings and construction plans.
• Graphic Design: proficiency in CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator will be an advantage.
• Basic understanding of sheet metal design, fabrication, and manufacturing principles.
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for creative problem-solving.
• Fluent in English (basic Afrikaans beneficial).
• Diploma or Degree in Industrial Design, Architectural Technology, Product Design or Multidisciplinary Design.
• Valid Driver's Licence.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 or quality systems would be an advantage.
