Job Description
Our client is currently seeking a reliable and proactive Stores Assistant to support their Supply Chain operations. This hands-on role is vital in ensuring the efficient movement, storage, and control of materials throughout the business. You will be responsible for receiving, storing, transferring, and dispatching stock, ensuring accuracy and timeliness at every stage of the process.
Key Responsibilities
* Accurately pick, kit, and deliver materials to designated routing locations
* Transfer and transport stock as required between departments
* Collect stock from Stores and distribute to required areas
* Prepare and dispatch materials, including booking goods in and out of the system
* Carry out loading and unloading of goods, ensuring secure and safe handling
* Maintain high inventory accuracy (target: >98%) through regular cycle counting
* Transact all stock movements accurately within the ERP/inventory management system
* Ensure documentation (packing notes, work orders, requisitions) is filed and recorded correctly
* Identify and report overstocking or low stock levels
* Participate actively in 5S activities and lean initiatives
* Provide additional support to the wider team when needed
* Prepare and process goods for external suppliers, including spares kits and component orders
* Coordinate with packing teams, assist with lorry loading, and manage dispatch documentation
Essential Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in a Stores or Materials Handling role
* Understanding of import/export processes
* Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks
* Basic computer literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel)
* Experience with ERP systems for inventory control
* Knowledge of safe manual handling practices
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Forklift licence (counterbalance or reach truck)
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a team environment
* Experience with Lean principles
* Familiarity with export procedures and documentation
* Able to operate cutting tools/equipment safely and effectively
* Knowledge of export procedures (nice to have)
Qualifications
* GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths (preferred)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
