Job Description
* Ensures the capability of efficient operation of all equipment in the process areas by using preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, overhauling and repairing equipment to achieve operational goals.
* Ensures unscheduled downtime and equipment repair is prioritized according to Plant needs by determining the impact to loss of production and/or safety issues.
* Assist with line calls on shift, and complete work orders as assigned and inform maintenance supervisor or maintenance team leader of additional work needed. Ensures that spare parts are available for plant systems and requests parts as needed.
* Be constantly aware of food safety.
* Ensures no injury to self or to others by following safe work practices and policies.
* Ensures interface with team members and other support personnel is conducted in participative management style consistent with operational goals.
* Ensures all maintenance documents are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
* Accurately fills out and maintains the daily log.
* Maintains work area in a clean and functional condition. Maintain all tools and equipment not in use in their assigned locations.
* Under the supervision and direction of the maintenance supervisor, and other qualified maintenance personnel, install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain plant equipment.
* Performs ARC, MIG, TIG and Acetylene cutting and welding in a safe and correct manner when repairing and fabricating equipment.
* Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and procedures.
* Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge.
* Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures confidentiality regarding sensitive issues and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the company.
* Ensures that all work related activities within the facility are accomplished through methods which promote safety to employees and which minimize potential impact to the community environment in which we live.
* Ensure that additional accountabilities as may be required by management be handled in a manner necessary to meet Operational Division Standards and Objectives.
* Performs assigned responsibilities during Plant evacuation or other emergency situations.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
* Must be able to effectively and accurately read, process and complete work orders, obtain materials from supply and gather information from operator’s manuals.
* Must be able to read and understand written instructions, plant, equipment and manufacturers’ manuals, Material Safety Data Sheets, instructional manuals, blueprints, layouts and engineering drawings.
* Must possess basic writing skills for recording pertinent information on daily logs, preventative maintenance forms, work orders and purchase request forms.
* Must have basic math skills (addition, subtraction, fractions and multiplication) to perform measurements, fabrication, timing, conveyor belt speeds and gear ratios on equipment.
* Must be able to use measuring devices such as tape measures, scales, gauges, calipers, grease guns, etc. Ability to operate valves, keyboards, equipment and other controls.
* Must be able to use written logbooks, plant computer system, maintenance work order and supply system.
* Must be able to communicate orally with team leaders, operators, mechanics, supervisors, managers and peers in a professional manner.
* Must be able to communicate emergency information using correct procedures and terminology.
* Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, have considerable manual dexterity with both hands and possess good hand-eye coordination.
* Must be able to work under extreme conditions such as hot and cold air, wet environments, hot and cold water, hot oil, and slick floors; inside and outside the Plant.
* Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, catwalks, work in confined areas, maneuver in close quarters and heights.
* Must be able to furnish own basic hand tools, as needed.
* Must be able to operate mobile equipment such as forklifts and pickup trucks, which includes a valid Washington State driver’s license and all required certification.
* Must have basic knowledge of welding (ARC, MIG, TIG) and welding safety practices.
* Must have knowledge of pumps and pneumatic systems.
* Must have knowledge of basic shop safety practices.
* Must be able to use personal protective equipment, such as safety harnesses, and abide by GMP rules.
* Must be able to work within a team.
* Must be able to follow directions and work independently with minimal supervision.
