Control System Engineer

The role of the Control System Engineer:
They are seeking a motivated and skilled Control System Engineer to join their Equipment Division. This is a permanent, mid-level position ideal for an engineer eager to take ownership of PLC control system development. You will be instrumental in designing, programming, testing, and commissioning control systems for their high-specification coating equipment.
Responsibilities of the Control System Engineer:
* Collaborate effectively within the controls team and with other engineering disciplines to achieve project goals.
* Lead the design, development, and implementation of PLC and software solutions for coating equipment.
* Produce technical documentation including I/O lists, P&IDs, and FAT/SAT reports.
* Configure and tune controllers, motor drives, and safety devices such as PID controllers, level switches, and thyristors.
* Ensure compliance with relevant safety and control standards, legislation, and regulations.
Requirements of the Control Systems Engineer:
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in PLC design, process development, or HMI/SCADA programming (Ignition experience preferred).
* Strong technical knowledge of electrical and control systems, with proficiency in PLC platforms such as Siemens TIA, Allen Bradley Studio 5000, or similar.
* Experience working with industrial communication protocols like Profibus, Profinet, Modbus, DeviceNet, or Ethernet/IP.
* HNC/HND in Electrical, Electronics, Controls, Software, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of electrical safety standards and legislation.
