We believe that our strength is not just in our steel but the diversity of our workforce. Our people make the difference.
What you will do
As a Quality Specialist, you will play an important role in ensuring our products meet customer expectations while supporting improvements across the works. Your work will focus on understanding yield performance, investigating customer complaints, and helping teams improve processes in a consistent and structured way.
You will take the lead in coordinating activities linked to works yield and complaint investigations. This involves working closely with manufacturing teams, analysing data, carrying out testing, and translating your findings into clear actions. A strong understanding of tinmill processes and surface characteristics will help you identify how different factors influence final product performance.
You will also support the development of the Quality and Product Development annual plan, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and help maintain best practice within Quality Management Systems. Throughout your work, you will prepare clear reports, maintain standard documentation formats, and build collaborative relationships with colleagues across operations, CTS, PMD and other supporting functions.
Safety plays a central part in this role. You will promote safe ways of working, ensure procedures such as SWPs and risk assessments are followed, and support the wider team in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. This is a highly collaborative role where your expertise will directly support plant performance and customer satisfaction.
What you will need
This role suits someone with a strong technical and analytical background who enjoys problem solving and working with people. You should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in a science discipline and have a solid understanding of through-process operations and product capability.
Good knowledge of quality management techniques and analytical methods is important, along with the ability to work confidently with data using tools such as Excel and MINITAB. You should be comfortable identifying what analysis is needed, interpreting results, and communicating your conclusions clearly.
Strong communication skills will help you work effectively across different departments, while a proactive approach to safety, quality and continuous improvement will support your success in the role. You will need to be able to work independently when required, remain organised, and manage your own priorities within an established framework.
If you are passionate about improving product performance, supporting manufacturing teams, and contributing to high-quality outcomes for customers, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact.
