Job Description:
About The Role
Place2Be provides emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in partner schools. Counsellors working within the organisation adhere to the BACP ethical framework of good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, dedicated to improving mental health and well-being.
* We offer high-level support to placement counsellors through supervision, tailored training, and a well-recognised clinical placement program.
* Comprehensive induction and daily clinical supervision are provided.
* Availability for at least one day per week to work therapeutically with up to three children in one-to-one counselling is required.
* Placements are term-time only, lasting one academic year, with opportunities for extension.
* Participants can attend up to six optional workshops per year, recognized as CPD time.
* Sessions with children count as clinical hours towards professional accreditation, recognized by BACP and UKCP.
* Many clinical staff started as Counsellors on Placement, making it a valuable career stepping stone.
* Positions are available in primary and secondary schools nationwide.
Counting your hours
Clinical hours gained can be used towards accreditation with bodies like BACP and UKCP. Check with your course tutor whether child hours are accepted before applying. If not accepted, you may consider applying for a second placement for experience.
Diversity and Inclusion
Place2Be is committed to equal opportunities and encourages applications from diverse backgrounds, especially from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities. We are also keen to attract male candidates to reflect community diversity. Successful applicants will undergo an Enhanced DBS/PVG check.
Training availability
Mandatory training sessions include:
* Safeguarding Induction (1 day, in person) - 19th October
* Placement Introductory Workshop (2 days, in person) - 7th and 8th October
About You
You will be a qualified Counsellor, Therapist, or Clinical Psychologist, or studying towards one at the following levels:
* Diploma in Counselling (Level 4 or above) or a full academic year Certificate in Counselling.
* Degree, MSc, or MA in Counselling, Counselling Psychology, or Psychotherapy, with relevant experience if in the first year.
We welcome applications from suitable counsellors on placement who are eager to work in this rewarding environment.
