Salary: £26,107.55 - £28,235.69 per annum

Role Purpose

The Youth Worker will assist the Pupil Support Team at Selkirk High School to increase engagement and support the development of - and help deliver - individualized programmes of learning for young people.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


1. To work directly with young people from the Selkirk High School catchment area in order to increase engagement, attendance and raise attainment.


2. In consultation with individuals and small groups of young people and key staff at the school (Pupil Support, HSLW, Pastoral, Attendance and Engagement Officers), to contribute to individualised curricula for identified young people/small groups in line with the service needs of the High School and Cluster


3. To work with and assist HSLW and other staff to support Attendance and Engagement.


4. To design, support and, where appropriate, lead interventions for individuals and groups which lead to the achievement of Awards and qualifications.


5. To manage evidence of progress to support the achievement of qualifications and awards.


6. To participate in staff training, development and support and supervision.


7. To safeguard and implement safe working practices with respect to confidentiality, consent, child protection and managing risk appropriately.


RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Youth Worker will be responsible for resources within their flexible work base.




Essential

· A qualification in ACT foundation, ACT Youth Work 1 or First Steps training or other equivalent part-time qualification.


· Experience of planning delivery and evaluating learning activities for young people.


A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.
