About Northern LGPS
Northern LGPS is a c£70bn pooled investment partnership for the Local Government Pension Scheme, bringing together the investments of Greater Manchester Pension Fund, Merseyside Pension Fund and West Yorkshire Pension Fund.
Building on the foundations of its collaboration over several years, Northern LGPS is now entering the next phase of its development. This phase focuses on establishing an FCA authorised investment management company with a dedicated senior leadership team; strengthening governance and creating a clear operating model to support long-term investment outcomes.

These roles offer the chance to shape strategy, set standards and build leadership capability for the long term, working closely with the partner funds, who are both shareholders and clients, Boards and regulators to ensure Northern LGPS continues to evolve as a well-governed, resilient investment organisation.
The Role
• Design and implement the procurement strategy aligned to business objectives and operating model
• Lead end-to-end procurement activity including sourcing, tendering and supplier selection
• Oversee contract negotiation to secure optimal commercial terms and risk protections
• Establish and manage a robust contract and supplier governance framework
• Drive supplier performance management, including KPIs, SLAs and review processes
• Ensure procurement activity complies with public-sector regulations and FCA expectations
• Partner with internal teams to support strategic sourcing and commercial decision-making
• Build and lead a high-performing procurement function
About You
• Senior procurement professional with experience in complex or regulated environments
• Strong track record in strategic sourcing, supplier management and contract negotiation
• Experience operating within public-sector procurement frameworks and governance structures
• Understanding of third-party risk management and outsourcing requirements
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide commercial insight
• Experience building or developing procurement functions within evolving organisations
• Commercially focused, pragmatic and able to balance cost, risk and service quality
