Somerset Healthcare is Now Hiring a Van Driver to join our team!
Duties and Responsibilities:
* The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicle
* Extensive contact with patients/ residents of a nursing home facility
* Assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicle
* Ensuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle
* Securing residents’ mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs
* Keeping a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended
* Documenting the mileage and time for each bus trip
* Performing preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repair
Requirements:
* Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle
* Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle
* Ability to find geographic locations
* Ability to follow oral/ written instructions and keep a record of activities
* Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff
* Possession of a valid driver’s license
Experience:
* Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle
* Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above
* Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus
