Overview
Puma Berry Ltd is seeking a highly capable Network Engineer (SFIA Level 5) to support a major Defence secure communications platform. This role sits within a technical delivery team responsible for the design, build, validation and support of core physical and virtual networking components
Candidate must have an active SC clearance.
Role Overview
You will support the engineering team responsible for:
* Design, development, build and validation of networking components forming the backbone of the XXXX(D) platform Network Engineer
* Production and review of design artefacts (HLD, LLD, configuration documentation)
* Supporting wider system testing activities
* Working with Service Management to diagnose and resolve issues
* Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum 3+ years' demonstrable industry experience with detailed knowledge of:
Core Networking
* Hierarchical IP Subnetting
* Routing protocols (OSPF & BGP – internal and external)
* Advanced configuration of routers, switches and firewalls
Core Network Technologies & Infrastructure
* Cisco Nexus
* Cisco IOS XE
* Leaf & Spine network architecture
* VXLAN overlay networks
* Dual Cloud / Dual Hub DMVPN solutions
* Firewall IPS/IDS
* AAA Management platforms (e.g. Cisco ISE)
* TRL Crypto
* Configuration of devices and keymat management
* Full QoS implementation (Traffic Shaping, Policing, Scheduling, Congestion Management & Avoidance) Network Engineer
Certifications (minimum one within last 5 years)
* CCNP (or equivalent professional networking certification)
* VMware VCP-NV
Additional Requirements
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
* Competent in MS Office Suite
* Active SC Clearance (mandatory)
Desirable Experience
* Defence or wider UK public sector environment (ideally Defence Digital)
* Defence networks and secure gateways
* Delivery of accredited secure UK public sector solutions
* Agile (SAFe4) and Waterfall delivery methodologies
* Large-scale virtualised infrastructure environments
* Atlassian toolset (JIRA & Confluence)
* Multi-tenanted secure architecture design
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science (or related discipline)
* Chartered Engineer status
Working Pattern
* Standard 5-day week
* 8-hour working day
* 2–3 days onsite in Corsham
