Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEND Specialist
Location: South Shields
Salary: £95–£110 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

We’re supporting a well-regarded specialist SEND school in South Shields, known for its nurturing environment and commitment to pupil wellbeing. They cater for pupils with a range of complex needs, including learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
They are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team and help deliver both class-based support and small group interventions.
The role includes:
* Assisting the teaching team with personalised learning plans
* Leading small group activities and targeted interventions
* Building positive, supportive relationships with pupils
* Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
* Promoting an inclusive and engaging learning environment
The ideal candidate will:
* Have experience as a TA or HLTA, ideally within SEND settings
* Be confident leading learning activities independently and with groups
* Be patient, adaptable, and resilient, with a genuine commitment to supporting young people
* Hold or be willing to complete Thrive training
* Have a strong understanding of additional needs and the importance of pupil-centred support
